Ward Bowman's LeeWard project SMS Consent

How Ward Bowman's LeeWard project collects, confirms and records consent to text messages.

Ward Bowman, a sole proprietor, operates the LeeWard messaging program. Privacy Policy: https://aileeward.com/privacy.php. Terms of Service: https://aileeward.com/terms.php.

The sign-up flow

  1. The person enters their own mobile number on the public opt-in page, https://aileeward.com/parleah/join.php.
  2. The person ticks an unchecked SMS consent box. The box is never pre-selected, and the consent statement sits right beside it.
  3. The page shows a one-time JOIN code. No text message is sent at this point.
  4. The person must text JOIN <code> from the same phone within 15 minutes. A code that is not used expires.
  5. Ward Bowman's LeeWard project sends no SMS until the confirming text is received. It never texts a number first.
  6. When the confirming text arrives, Ward Bowman's LeeWard project sends one welcome message that repeats the frequency, rates, HELP and STOP wording.
